Woe is me....

yeah .... bleh .... between trying to work, dealing with catching up from the power outage, fighting with my bank about their being completely retarded, passing 2 kidney stones in the past 2 weeks, and last saturday 10/14 started this lovely chest cold... i been pretty miserable these past 2 weeks. Well I finally got paid today so i went to get something for this bronchospasm at the pharmacy- pharmacist said if my albuterol nebulizer wasnt working anymore i really needed to see a doc .... so i say ok fine, i'll do that maybe they'll give me a codeine cough syrup, straighten my ass right out.

NOT... 9 bags of IV fluids and 6 hours later (my bladder and circulatory system thank you ever so much) and a myriad of tests and procedures later... thanks to my kidney stone exodus i have a UTI, but my CT scan showed NONE LEFT TO PASS! YAY! ?cheer? But my chest xray did show some haziness in my lungs that left untreated would be pneumonia - so there'll calling this early pneumonia. So whooopteedoo i'm on antibiotics again! So at least maybe i'll start feeling mildly physically better. Hopefully that will change my attitude with everything else too. But i doubt it...

along with my daily saga is the now pending holiday dilema. Do I dare call and invite myself to my grandmothers for thanksgiving and xmas or would i rather just stay at home alone AGAIN and avoid the family drama? do i dare try to save money to try and drive to SC to see my mom and lil sister? but if i do that then i would have to deal with the dreaded stepfather /shudder.... and i KNOW id rather stay home alone than do that. I have an afinity for xmas anyway - and note my lack of adding CHRIST in there I intentionally put the X in Xmas - due to family drama and years of our modern world turning what used to be such a fun holiday into nothing but a commercial competition between retailers and consumers - and my family getting completely sucked into the materialism of it all. Whatever happened to holidays meaning get together, have fun, reunite with ppl we havent seen in ages, rehash what we've been through over the year, hug, kiss, part ways happy and smiling and looking forward to the next one?

at least this xmas i know i wont be sitting here nursing a black eye and a broken rib, a broken ankle, along with various other physical injuries. Thanks Joe you're a pal! (please note liberal amounts of sarcasm in that thank you)

oh yeah and did i mention that CRF is half through the run already? and i'm still sitting here in NY freezing my ass off wishing i was there dressed to the 9's 16th century style living in a tent for the remaining 3-4 weekends?

Because I....

feel like being a pain in ur arse today /evil grin

Jingle Bells in Reverse

mwuahahahahah!!

How's your pulse?

WNY REELING

Slideshow of the damage

Due to the graphic size and number of pics i figured this was the easiest way to share the pics, you can also use the gallery link to view the shots individually ;)

please bear with my newbishness of creating slide shows :( this is my first and it sucks but I figured this was the easiest way to share the pics

i know some of you who havent actually been to my house yet wont see the significance of my backyard shots (the shots of just trees that you never used to be able to see light between and now can) or my landlords truck under the power lines and tree that we spent most of thursday night from 11:20 pm til 2:30 am trying to clear his truck from the power lines (this is in my driveway btw) and tree before they were active again... nor can you see the full amount of damage to my street because the pics look so small in detail because of their size... but alas again the intensive graphic nature (size and number of pics) of the pics prevents me from uploading each one individually to share.

WNY CLOBBERED! But i'm alive ;p

I was without power, internet, and heat, and water since 11:17 pm thursday night 10/12 - until 8:30 pm Saturday night! No telling how long it will actually stay up because they are saying they are expecting the incoming storm to be freezing rain. More pictures to be posted on my blog of my street and yard.

STORM AFTERMATH
Surprise storm leaves WNY reeling

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3 deaths, blackouts, closed streets and downed trees spark state disaster declaration by Gov. Pataki

A tree limb felled by the dense, sodden snow ends up atop a van and chokes off traffic on Ashland Avenue.

A pedestrian finds the footing tough Friday while navigating Allenhurst Road, off Kenmore Avenue in Amherst, where emergency vehicles also had a challenging time making it through the snow.

The worst October storm in Buffalo's history, a cruel Friday the 13th joke, mercifully moved out of town yesterday, leaving behind a heartbreaking legacy of downed trees, lost power and a double whammy of snow and flooding.
The surprisingly early lake-effect storm, and its bizarre mix of thunder and lightning, finally relented, but only after 390,000 homes lost electricity, tens of thousands of trees had been damaged and three people died.

The Columbus Day storm dumped nearly 2 feet of snow, the sixth-biggest snowfall ever in a 24-hour period, and forced the closings of schools, businesses and a 105-mile stretch of the New York State Thruway from Rochester to Dunkirk.

"In the 137 years of records we have here in Buffalo, we've never seen anything like this," said meteorologist Tom Niziol of the National Weather Service in Cheektowaga.

Buffalo and its first ring suburbs - Kenmore, Tonawanda, Snyder and Eggertsville - absorbed the hardest hits; a utility spokesman said it may be four days or more before electricity is restored to every home and business. In the city alone, 70 percent of the homes lost power.

"Mother Nature sure threw the people of Western New York a curveball on Friday the 13th," Gov. George E. Pataki said after touring storm-ravaged communities.

There were at least three storm-related fatalities, including a man struck by a falling tree branch while shoveling outside his home on Campbell Boulevard in Getzville. Police did not release his name. "His wife heard a crack and saw him get hit," said Capt. Michael Melton of the Amherst Police Department.

Police said two people died in traffic accidents - one in the town of Lancaster and the other, a state trooper from Fairport, who died in Niagara County.

The damage, from downed power lines to fallen trees, was bad enough that Pataki declared a state disaster emergency and called in the National Guard, as well as state work crews from as far away as Syracuse. The governor and the region's congressional delegation also called on President Bush to declare the area a federal disaster and free up money for both governments and individuals.

By late Friday morning, weather-savvy residents already were digging out from the biggest early season snowstorm in history, and bracing for a long weekend without heat, electricity and phone service.

"Just have to wait it out," said Robert DeWald, a Gorton Street resident who lost power Thursday afternoon. "We'll fire up a couple of candles and throw some logs on the fire and listen to the radio."

Thousands of people found refuge in the dozens of fire halls and schools that opened as shelters, while others traded their homes for a hotel with room service.

About 700 National Grid work crews were expected to hit the streets today but, even with that massive effort, utility spokesmen said it may take three to four days - or longer - before everyone has power again.

For those who stayed home, the only option was to bundle up in warm clothes, light a few candles and search for an alternative source of energy.

In Amherst, the commodity in demand Friday was not just heat and electricity, but also water.

The need stemmed, in part, from a power failure at an Amherst water treatment facility that caused concerns about water service. The Kaleida hospital network responded by ordering 10,000 bottles of water as a precaution.

"All of our patients are safe," said Kaleida spokesman Michael Hughes. "We have power, food and water."

Virtually every town, village and city hit by the storm declared a state of emergency or driving ban. Buffalo's driving ban was lifted at midnight Friday.

Travelers, many of them unfamiliar with Buffalo's extreme weather, found themselves struggling to get out of town. For much of the day, both the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, the Thruway and the U.S.-bound lanes on the Peace Bridge shut down.

"I knew it snowed a lot in Buffalo, but I wouldn't have dreamed something like this could happen in the middle of October," said Charles Wagner, a Chicago businessman waiting for a flight home from his first ever trip to Buffalo.

"Will I come back?" Wagner asked. "Not anytime soon, and only in the summer."

It was, in the words of one veteran meteorologist, an unprecedented weather event and one that caught everyone by surprise, leaving forecasters red-faced. As the storm approached Thursday morning, forecasters at the National Weather Service agonized over the situation. They wondered if the atmosphere would turn cold enough to turn the rain to snow and, later in the day, their worst fears came true.

Like a hurricane that feeds off warm tropical waters, this storm found much of its fuel in Lake Erie's 62-degree temperatures.

It also came armed with a southwest wind that took direct aim at the region's most densely populated area - Buffalo and its northern suburbs - and then stalled for roughly 16 hours. The storm was not accompanied by low temperatures: the low during the heavy 24-hour snowfall was only 32 degrees reached at 5 a.m. Friday.

Forecasters predict that today and Sunday will be snow-free, although rain is in the forecast.

Over my head

Another one of my favorite songs that seems to explain my soul and current meanderings of my wee brain....

The Fray - Cable Car - Over My Head

seems quite pertinent to how i feel right now ......

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm in over...

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

unwilling

a friend of mine wrote this "was in one of those in between seeing days and in a spaz lol. ya know what i'm talking about." I'm in these modes a lot and this is pretty expressive of how I feel most of the time too, so thought i'd share. Thanks Krys ;p

unwilling

the darkness outside looms eerily inside of me

clear and lighted by unattainable stars

guided by piercing moonlight and the purest of silences

broken only by the illusions unveiled by light

all the i love yous and the i care more than you think i dos

are proven false by the obvious void of intentions to be true

prevailing deceits fuel the path ahead

lies are the foundation, doubt holds the keys

unwillingness to wait, absence will be the end.

October?

Egads its already October! This time of year has always been my favorite. The crisp snap in the air, the just perfect temperatures to start that light winter layering - chill nipping at your nose...

but added to that is the memories of bonfires, chai latte, hot apple cider, Carolina Pale Ale, Cider Beer, beef jerky vendors, bread bowl soups, scotch eggs, turkey legs for the hounds, corsets, hoopskirts, miles upon miles of walking, the death march, camping for 7 weekends straight - early mornings with mist clinging in the air - late nights around bon fires and portapotties, sneaking a late night run in the jousting pit with the hounds, the anticipation of opening cannon, getting down to our skivies as soon as closing cannon goes off.... reuniting with friends i see twice a year from all over the US and neighboring countries, didjerydoos, the drummer boys, terry foy and spoonerisms, being Feuter to the hounds, dressing to the 9's 16th century style, slaughtering attempts at 16th century old english and trying my damndest to stay in character, griping about 'stupid patrons', "is that a whipet?", 10 things i'd like to say to a patron, ... and the ever present "hang on to somethin babeh" ....

For the past 3 years i've missed out on the fun of CRF :( well this makes the third year ... missing this indescribably fun 7 (oct-nov) weeks the past 2 years threw me into a serious tailspin of depression. This year i also missed GARF (march - april) - and that was another tailspin of depression. Will i make it this year without a meltdown?

i feel like the the white rabbit .... No, no, no, no, no, no, no! I'm overdue! I'm really in a stew! No time to say goodbye...hello! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!!

anyone have one of those lil matrix pills handy so i can go down the rabbit hole??

a Sai-ism

Embrace with eyes wide open,
It's for the taking if we accept
Fear holds us back, eyes closed.
Then we miss the beauty of it all.

A Lesson to Learn

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his
son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of
showing his son how poor people live. They spent a
couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be
considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his
son, "How was the trip?"

" It was great, Dad."

"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.

"Oh yeah," said the son.

"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked
the father.

The son answered: "I saw that we have one dog and they
had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of
our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We
have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the
endless amount of stars at night. Our patio reaches to the
front yard and they have the whole horizon filled with the
beauty of Sunsets. We have a small piece of land to live
on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our
food, but they >grow theirs and give it to their neighbors.
" We have walls around our property to protect us, they have
friends to protect them."

The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are."
